Bangladesh will play South Africa in a must win game at the Sher E Bangla Stadium in Mirpur, Dhaka on Saturday, March 19. Bangladesh are in fifth place at the moment and only a win can take them above England to fourth place. South Africa will need a win to finish Group B in top spot. 
Bangladesh were sitting comfortably in fourth spot till yesterday, before England beat the West Indies to take their points tally to seven. The win also shifted the onus back on Bangladesh, who will have to win to qualify. Even rain cannot save the co hosts, as their run rate is worse than England’s.
This is a tough game for Bangladesh but they will believe that they can pull off a victory. South Africa have struggled against spin in this World Cup and this should be good news for an attack that boasts four spinners. It was that attack that brought them victory against England on a slow track.
South Africa would not want another setback before the quarter finals. Their position in the group or the opposition that they will face in the quarter final game should not be of a concern. But a defeat here, will be a big blow to the morale. The top order struggled against Ireland, especially against the two spinners. They had JP Duminy to rescue them, but they would not want a similar scenario in this game as well.
Bangladesh’s batting has improved a lot over the past two games. The lesson learnt from the England game helped them pace their innings better against the Dutch with Imrul Kayes holding the innings together. He along with Tamim Iqbal, will be the key to this team if they want to overcome a strong South African bowling attack.
South Africa are the favorites but nothing is predictable in cricket and a miracle is possible.
