Ireland and the Netherlands will play in an inconsequential match in Group B, at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Friday, March 18.
Both the teams are out of the World Cup with Ireland winning just one game out of their five and the Netherlands losing all five of their games so far. However, both teams would want to finish the World Cup on a high and that should make it an interesting game to watch. 
Ireland would be disappointed with their performances in the last few games. The euphoria after the win against England evaporated pretty quickly with losses against India and the West Indies. A key umpiring decision cost them the game against the West Indies, in which they looked very promising. 
They were shambolic in the match against South Africa, after a very good start. However, the real game that has hampered their chances was the one against Bangladesh. They could not chase down a small total and that loss is now Bangladesh’s gain.
They would want to beat a Netherlands side that is low on confidence and skill. The Netherlands have gone downhill after a promising start against England, a game that they lost by a whisker. Their performances after that have been disappointing and they have been clearly outplayed by every opponent they have faced. Only Ryan ten Doeschate and Tom Cooper can walk away with any credit.
Despite all that, they would feel that this is a great chance to register their first win in the Cricket World Cup. Ireland have just lost a chance to qualify and have been knocked out of the tournament and should be low on confidence. This is the right time to play on that and that is what the Dutch would be looking to do.
But, Ireland should come out on top. They have a more balanced side than the Netherlands, who are very short on the bowling department.
