Australia will be looking for a win when they take on England in the first One Day International that will be played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Sunday, January 16, 2011.

Australia haven’t won two consecutive games for a long time and will be looking to break that jinx and add to their win in the second T20 International between the two sides.

This also would be the last chance for both the sides to try out new things before they leave for the World Cup in February. Lot will depend on him>

Australia are a long way away from deciding their best starting eleven. Like every other format, their decline in this format has also been clearly visible and they are not in the right position to defend their crown. While the series in India was decided by one match, with the other two games cancelled due to rain, the home series loss to Sri Lanka was a painful blow and an indication of how much Australia had fallen down.Player to look out for>

They would be looking to set things right. While the talent wasn’t quite up to the mark, the hunger and win at all costs attitude was encouraging in the second T20 game on Friday. Australia hung on to win that game by four runs and that win should have given the side a tremendous boost of confidence.

Shane Watson was terrific in the series, with both bat and ball, and should be the man who carries the team in this series. Mitchell Johnson’s bowling form got better in the T20 games and he was their best bowler in the second game. Doug Bollinger will return to the side and so will off spinner, Nathan Hauritz, who was overlooked for the Test series. Michael Clarke will captain the side in Ricky Ponting’s absence.

England will also be eyeing the world cup during this series. They have already set up a good team around the two spinners, Graeme Swann and Michael Yardy, and will just be looking for two fast bowlers who will bowl alongside the in form James Anderson.

This should be a cracking game and series between two evenly matched sides.
