Another day in the rains and the series seems to be going towards a 0-0 final scoreline.

Another day in the rains and the series seems to be going towards a 0-0 final scoreline. On the second day of the third and the final Test match between West Indies and Sri Lanka at Pallekele, rain had the final say in the game as West Indies ended the day after playing only 41 overs. Well made half century>

The first day had seen only 40 overs of play possible and with more rain predicted, it looks highly difficult for the teams to get a result out of this game. Will they win a game?>

However, the interesting thing was that in the 81 overs that have been possible so far, it has been an intense battle between the bat and the ball.

Resuming on their overnight score of 134/2, West Indies lost the wicket of their previous day’s half-century scorer Darren Bravo off the fourth over of the day as he was lbw to Dilhara Fernando for 68.

However, that did not get the hosts the desired results – a collapse that is usually associated with such early fall of wicket in Sri Lanka. The duo of Shivnarine Chanderpaul and Brendan Nash ground the Sri Lankan bowlers and added 99 for the fourth wicket carrying through to the lunch break.

In the interim period there were occasions when the side could have lost a wicket – a run-out chance was missed, while an out decision against Chanderpaul was overturned with the use of UDRS.

It was after lunch that the West Indian side did finally lose a wicket when Chanderpaul edged one from Ajantha Mendis to be caught really well by Mahela Jayawardene in the slips. Rangana Herath then removed Dwayne Bravo stumped for a duck before the rains came down and the game ended with the side at 244/5.

Nash was unbeaten on 62 at stumps.
