Venkatesh Prasad, a former Indian bowler and bowling coach has launched a staunch attack on the current crop of Indian fast bowlers. According to Prasad the bowlers lack motivation to succeed at the highest level.Blasts Indian bowlers>

Prasad, who is currently a part of the Chennai Super Kings setup as a bowling coach, thinks that the bowlers don’t put in their all during net sessions. He is of the opinion that a player who doesn’t go all in during the net sessions, the bowler won’t be able to succeed at the world stage. He suggests that the bowlers start putting in more effort than the normal 20 minute routine bowling sessions that they currently follow. He feels that the bowlers must bowl for atleast two hours shifts in order to be able to bowl 20 overs in a day during a Test match.

Although he seemed disillusioned with most of the bowlers he did compliment the work ethic of Ishant Sharma. He praised the lanky paceman and suggested that his dip in form is only temporary and with the amount of work he puts in, it’s just a matter of time for Sharma to return to the heights he achieved in Australia three years ago.

On Praveen Kumar, Prasad thought that Kumar should be picked when India tour England and New Zealand as his ability to move the ball both ways will be a major weapon for the Indians in the bowler conducive pitches available there.

On Sreesanth, Prasad hoped that the pacer from Kerela who has been picked in the Test squad for the home series against Australia, will grab his opportunity and become a permanent member in the Test team.
