Kevin Pietersen has decided to play for KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa for a short period of time in October in a bid to regain his form before the start of the Ashes. Pietersen had been in a woeful touch before the Ashes and was axed from the ODIs and the T20Is that the English side played against Pakistan. Going to South Africa>

Pietersen will play for the South African first class team between October 7 and 17, and this will include two four-day matches against North West and Eastern Province. This is subject to getting clearance from the English cricket board.

Pietersen said that he was very keen to play as much cricket as possible before the start of the Ashes, and by joining Natal will give him a good opportunity to play in the conditions that will be similar to the ones found in Australia in the Ashes. After being dropped from the English side, Pietersen joined Surrey on a short-term loan.

In the two games that he has played for Surrey has seen him score a century followed by a duck, which means that he feels that he could do with some more practice. It has been reported that Pietersen won’t be paid for the stint.

Pietersen is a South African born and had played his first class career in South Africa, having even played a game against the touring English side once. He got a contract with Nottinghamshire and that was the start of his career in England, which led him to being the captain of the English side in 2009.
