Pakistan cricket was hit by a match-fixing scandal at the end of the third day’s play against England at Lord’s as a few of their players were caught on camera accepting cash by an alleged match-fixer, Mazhar Majeed. Now what for Pakistan?>

The revelations came to light through a sting operation that the newspaper conducted with Majeed, who claimed that he was the players’ agent and had seven-eight players under him. He is then shown accepting money from the sting operation reporter, and in return for the same, is shown to be bowling no-balls at the pre-decided moments in the match.

The video shows Majeed telling the reporter that the bowlers will bowl three no-balls – one off the first ball of the third over, the second will be off the sixth ball of the 10th over and the third will be the first ball that Mohammad Amir bowls to the right-handed batsman after the openers are dismissed.

What was shocking was that the two bowlers, Mohammad Asif and Amir actually managed to bowl those no-balls at the batsmen at the exact same moment as decided. Amir’s no-balls were huge and even shocked the commentators at that time, before it was revealed that they were a part of a bigger plan.

The Scotland Yard has now been involved in the matter given that a criminal case has been registered, and Majeed has been arrested so far. It remains to be seen how this one peters out, but the future looks very bleak for those involved, because the evidence is there for everyone to see.
