The Pakistan selectors have decided not to replace Umar Gul with any other pace bowler in the squad. The management decided that the side already had two back-up pace bowlers and it will not make any sense to call up for another bowler. >
Gul had injured his hamstring in the second Test match and could not bowl in the second innings of the game. the two back-up bowlers in the squad, who have yet to play a single game on this tour are Wahab Riaz and Tanvir Ahmed.
Speaking to the press, the manager of the side, Yawar Saeed said, “We have two back up pace bowlers, Tanvir Ahmed and Wahab Riaz in the touring squad and either one of them can replace Gul for the remaining Tests,”
Gul has also to undergo a scan on 18 August, and after that scan the doctors will be able to assess how much more time will Gul take to recover from the injury. Pakistan also play five ODIs and two T20Is against England.
The Pakistanis will now have to name the side for the ODI series and Shahid Afridi will fly down to England along with Mohsin Khan to decide on the same. Afridi was the captain of the Pakistani side in the Tests as well, but had stepped down after just one Test match.
