England beat Pakistan on the fourth day of the second Test match played at Edgbaston in Birmingham. The end-result was an easy win after the side had had to face some anxious moments on the third day thanks to the wagging of the Pakistani tail.Up 2-0>

England were left to chase a target of 118 for a win on the fourth day and they achieved the target for the loss one wicket only. Alastair Cook’s woeful touch continued to be a bother, as he was bowled by Mohammad Aamer. Cook’s feet went nowhere and he was pegged on the crease by a delivery that kept a bit low and took his stumps for a walk. Cook scored 4. Only saving grace for Pakistan>

After that, Andrew Strauss was joined by Jonathon Trott, and the pair saw off some deliveries that had kept low to get closer to the target. The pair got to the lunch-break unscathed, at 71/1 and got the rest of the runs after the break. Both, Strauss and Trott scored a half century each.

Earlier, the Pakistanis resumed on their overnight score of 291/9, which had given them a lead of 112, but were bowled out for 296. Stuart Broad, who was involved in a controversial throw of ball at Zulqarnain Haider yesterday, picked up the wicket. This set the English a target of 118 for a win.

The third Test match will begin from the 18th of August at the Oval.
