Mohammad Yousuf will not play in the second Test match of the series between Pakistan and England at Birmingham. He had flown from Pakistan to assist a failing middle-order, but reached about 24 hours before the start of the game, and has been unable to recover fully from a leg-lag. >
Yousuf said that he had arrived after a long flight and will not be able to join the training immediately.
Yousuf also met up with the selection committee consisting of Salman Butt, the captain, Waqar Younis, the coach and Yawar Saeed, the manager last evening. He revealed that he had not been able to practice in Pakistan in the last couple of weeks because of the rains, and hence, will require some match preparation before he can make it to the playing eleven.
Butt also said that Yousuf should now be a part of the third Test match if he is fit enough. Butt added, “He can relax for now and steadily get back into the groove in the next week and also during the two-day practice game against Worcester.”
Butt said that a player of Yousuf’s class should be easily able to walk into the team if he regains his fitness.
