Browne appointed West Indian selector

The West Indies Cricket Board has brought in a new selector in the selection panel for the national team.

The West Indies Cricket Board has brought in a new selector in the selection panel for the national team. The WICB appointed former wicket-keeper, Courtney Browne in place of Raphick Jumadeen in the panel that consists of the three members. He will join the chairman Clyde Butts and Robert Haynes for a two-year long term. Selected as selector>

While the chairman thanked the WICB for their decision to reappoint him, he also welcomed Browne into the fold. Butts said that he looked forward to working with both, Browne and Haynes.

Browne played for West Indies between 1995 and 2005 and played in 20 Tests and 46 ODIs in that period. He often competed with other wicket-keepers in the region for a permanent slot as the wicket-keeper but it was his batting that often let him down.

Browne said, β€œIt is a privilege to be afforded the opportunity to serve West Indies cricket again. I feel honoured and I will put my best foot forward,”

Browne has been involved with cricket in many ways ever since his days as the captain of the Barbados cricket team. He has also had a term as an alternate selector along with Stuart Williams and Nehemiah Perry and has been in the selection panel for Barbados for a couple of years.

The selection was made after many interviews conducted by the review panel which had Ernest Hilaire, Joel Garner, Clive Lloyd and WICB chief cricket operations officer Tony Howard.
