The BCCI’s disciplinary committee has postponed the decision around the change of disciplinary committee to August 1. Earlier, the lawyers of Lalit Modi had fought tooth and nail for the change in the committee on the grounds on bias. The BCCI will now discuss the matter and come out with a decision by the aforementioned date. >
The BCCI did say that the committee will provide Modi the documents that the legal counsel of Modi had sought.
The legal counsel of Modi, Mahmood Abi said that the basic issue that was debated was the removal of Arun Jaitley and Chirayu Amin from the committee. He said, “Our lawyers argued the case. The BCCI will be allowed to come out with a rejoinder.”
Abdi also said that they wanted a neutral Supreme Court judge in the committee given that they thought that the committee was already biased against Modi.
The board will give the minutes of meeting from the special general body meeting held in July where the charges against Modi were ratified, and the copies of IPL governing council meetings (April 26 and June 25).
Modi missed the meetings again, after he said that there were security concerns. Modi is alleged to have received death threats from the underworld. On his Twitter, Modi also dispelled any notions of not co-operating with the BCCI over the investigations.
