Pawar washes hands off Modi controversy

The current ICC President, Sharad Pawar has said that he will not protect anyone, including Lalit Modi, when it came down to the IPL controversy.

Pawar also added that if there was someone guilty, he will need to face the consequences of that.

Pawar also added that Modi had been instrumental in ensuring that the IPL was a huge success. However, he added, that the BCCI was not happy with his style of functioning and that meant that the probe had to be conducted over the bungling.

Pawar added that all those involved with the IPL, including Modi, BCCI President Shashank Manohar and Pawar himself had worked together to ensure that the IPL well off well. However, Pawar added, “But the present set-up feels something has gone wrong. So until these [wrongdoings] are not established, it is not proper for me to support or oppose one against the other. Basically I am keeping away from all this.”

The Union Minister of the Indian Parliament also accepted that the image of the tournament had been tainted by all the allegations, but overall, IPL continued to maintain its position of strength.
