The ban applied on Younis Khan by the Pakistan Cricket Board has been lifted and that means that Younis Khan is free to play international cricket for Pakistan. Earlier, the PCB had banned Younis Khan, a former captain of the Pakistani side indefinitely for reasons which were not disclosed to the public.
Earlier, the PCB had also allowed Shoaib Malik to come back into the side after the one year ban applied on him was lifted by the same judge who has been appointed to look into the appeal. Malik was then chosen to play in the 15-member squad for the Asia Cup that starts this month.>
Even the fines levied on the players have been reduced to Rs.1 million each.
Mohammad Yousuf and Naved-ul-Hasan Rana are the only two players whose hearing has yet to happen. Yousuf had retired from international cricket after he was banned, whereas Rana’s hearing will happen later this month.
The captain of the Pakistan side, Shahid Afridi said that while it was not a big issue that Younis Khan wasn’t a part of the ODI squad to play the Asia Cup, he wanted him to be a part of the Test matches in England.
