Sulieman Benn was fined his entire match fee for the fourth ODI for West Indies against South Africa after the West Indies Cricket Board discussed with the issues surrounding the controversy in the game. >
Benn was involved in the discussion with the team management and has accepted the decision regarding the fine. He continues to remain in the squad. >
Benn had been sent off by Chris Gayle, the captain, after he had disobeyed the captain’s orders to bowl from over the wicket. Apparently, Benn had told the captain that he did not enjoy bowling from over the wicket. Gayle had slammed Benn in the media by saying that the practice sessions were meant to improve one’s cricket and it was Benn’s responsibility to practice bowling from there.
Gayle had then sent Benn back to the pavilion after the bowler had sent down only four out of the ten overs. Benn did not bowl another over in the game.
South Africa went on to beat West Indies off the last ball of the match to take a 4-0 lead.
