Suspended IPL Governing Council Chairman, Lalit Modi was issued another notice, his third, on Monday, by the BCCI. This was in relation to his awarding of the theatre rights for the broadcast of the IPL and selling the in-between overs ad-spot without the permission of the apex cricket body in India. In a spot of trouble again>

According to the BCCI, the deal with the Entertainment & Sports Direct (ESD), which won the rights to telecast the IPL games world over for a sum of $71.2 million was grossly under-priced and want an explanation from Modi about the same. The BCCI also wants Modi to explain the reasoning behind selling the ad-spots in the middle of the overs, something that has irritated a lot of fans and experts alike.

IPL had got into a contract with Multi-Screen Media (MSM) which allowed them 2600 seconds of advertisement revenue, but it has been alleged that Modi sold the extra 150 seconds of slots within the overs at a premium rate. The BCCI has alleged that not only was no prior permission taken for this but also the fact that they have yet to receive any money for the same.

At the other end, Lalit Modi has filed a case of defamation against Giles Clarke, the ECB chairman over his allegations that Modi had decided to go ahead with a parallel league.
