The Pakistan Cricket Board has revoked the one year ban that was put on Shoaib Malik and also reduced the fine levied on him by half. Malik had been banned by the disciplinary committee of PCB after it was found that Malik had been a negative influence on the team.Ban lifted>

Malik had then appealed to the arbitrator against the same and Iqbal Qadir said, “The board’s legal advisor has reported to me that after monitoring Malik in the last three months they feel he has improved his behavior and attitude. I have decided to uphold his appeal and lift the ban as the purpose of disciplinary action against players was to make them rethink about their careers.”

Malik said that he was happy to clear the stigma against his name over the ban.

The whole exercise is now beginning to look like it was a big eyewash in the first place, with Malik relieved of his sanctions and reports of the same happening for the rest of the players who had appealed against the ban as well.

The surprising aspect of the process was revealed when Mohammad Yousuf, who had not even appealed against the ban by the stipulated date, was approached by the Pakistan captain to play for the side.
