England ended the first day of the first Test match against Bangladesh at Lord’s on a high as they scored 362/4 in the 90 overs that were bowled in the day. At stumps, Jonathon Trott seemed to have cemented his position in the side with an unbeaten 175, whereas Eoin Morgan, making his debut was at 40. What an innings>

England were sent into bat by Bangladesh on a gloomy looking morning. The Bangladeshi bowlers would have expected a lot of help for the seam bowlers, but apart from Alastair Cook’s dismissal to Shahadat Hossain, the Bangladeshi bowlers struggled to grasp any initiative.

Both, Trott and English skipper, Andrew Strauss got to their half-centuries, and after lunch, flowered as the conditions improved very quickly.

Strauss scored 83 and Trott was on the way to an aggressive looking century when the captain was bowled by Mahmudullah. Kevin Pietersen’s issues with left-arm bowlers continued as he was bowled by Shakib al Hasan for 18, whereas Ian Bell scored 17 to leave England in a bit of a soup at 258/4.

However, the debutant Morgan assisted Trott through to an unbeaten 104-run stand for the fifth wicket, as they ended the day on 362/4. Trott finished not-out in a marathon of an effort on 175, whereas Morgan had used up only 69 balls for his 40.
