Mark Cosgrove Mark Cosgrove> is surprised and frustrated on being sacked by South Australia and is even ready to play in Tasmania for the next phase of his career. Mark was shocked to be axed by the Redbacks after a remarkable season where he was second to Michael Klinger with 511 runs at 42.58 in the Sheffield Shield averages.

Whilst he searched for a new state, Mark had a UK passport in case the need arises to switch any commitments. The opportunity came from Tasmania in the second round of state contract offers, where Mark said his has high hopes to emulate his former South Australian team mate, Ryan Harris to lift after changing states and opting to play for Australia.

For Mark it was a surprise when he was told the news and he was even frustrated as he had gone through the process of finding a new house. Cosgrove has even played for Australia, with three One Day Internationals in Malaysia and Bangladesh in 2006. But, he also struggled over the years to keep his weight down. The officials of South Australia often get angry on his fitness regime. Due to his weight issues, he was suspended at the initial stage of 2005-06 match after a season in England and in 2008 February, he got dropped for being out of shape.

As per Jamie Cox, the SACA high performance manager, Mark lost his chance due to specific reasons last month. However, Cosgrove believed that runs along with wickets must speak for themselves, provided he can play his part for the team, his overweight must not be the main issue.

Over the past five years, Mark is the leading Sheffield Shield run scorer with 2593 at 42.50, at South Australia with statistics based on consistency than any stand-out summer. Mark was speaking while he just scored a first-class 85 for Glamorgan in the County Championship from UK.
