P Ranganathan, the former Kerala Ranji batsman, is delighted upon getting appointed as a coach of the state side for the 2010-11 season. Prior to this, he was the BCCI Level II coach, and even coached the states under 14, 19 and 25 sides.

The secretary of the Kerala Cricket Association, TC. Mathew said that P Ranganathan was appointed purely based on his exceptional work with the South zone U-25 team. At present, he is the only Ranji Trophy player in Kerala having a level II coaching certificate and he even knows his players personally.

P Ranganathan is a right handed batsmen having played in 31 first class cricket matches between 1985 and 1993. He had scored 1110 runs at an average of 26.42 with six fifties and a century. He would be replacing Vedam Hariahran after just one season. In 2009 last November, Hariharan had whacked the KCA with a legal notice of claiming fifty lacs in damages to the nonpayment of salary and unfair dismissal too.
