Today’s game will see the Rajasthan Royals take on the Deccan Chargers at Motera in Ahmedabad. The Rajasthan Royals will be going into the game on a slight high of having finally managed to arrest the slide and won two games in a row, whereas the Deccan Chargers have three wins in a row after a first match loss and should be confident enough to take on any side. >
The Chargers’ confidence will probably stem from the fact that the side has three of the most powerful batsmen in the IPL; Adam Gilchrist, Andrew Symonds and Herschelle Gibbs. Gilly has been in crisp form throughout the tournament, getting starts in all the game. Gibbs has done his bit as well at the top of the innings whereas Symonds has been belligerent. >
Not only Symmo batted well, but his bowling will also pose question marks to the Rajasthan Royals batsmen, most of whom will find his ability to garner pace and bounce from the wicket a tad difficult to face.
Rajasthan, on the other hand, have suddenly found a winning formula and one can be expected that they will stick to it. Adam Voges’ batting takes the pressure off the shoulders of Yusuf Pathan and that should help him flower as well, while Faiz Fazal’s calming influence should assist the side. What could be the difference between the two sides is if the likes of Shaun Tait and Siddharth Triwedi could continue bowling in the manner that they have in the last game. That, to me, could even things up for sure.
The Rajasthan Royals will not go into the game as favourites and they will know it – 6/4 at Sporting Bet – but they will also know that they possess the stinging ability and William Hill’s 8/13 for a Deccan win will most certainly go for a toss if they can continue playing in the manner that they have in the series so far.
