The Rajasthan Royals have chucked Damien Martyn out of their squad and reduced the team to 19 members. Martyn played one game in the tournament and scored only 19 runs. >
The Rajasthan Royals lost three successive games in the tournament, before finally winning two in a trot. With Shane Watson expected to make a return to India for the IPL, it is evident that Martyn may not be needed in the side.
Martyn’s only innings in the IPL had come against Bangalore, and he has written in his blog that he enjoyed playing in the IPL. He also said that it was ironic that his debut came against a bowler like Dale Steyn who was bowling at more than 150 km/hr in the game.
Martyn added that he would now like to hang his boots from international cricket playing and would like to concentrate on coaching.
Martyn had been bought by the Rajasthan Royals in the auctions for $100,000, which was a surprise move even then.
Watson will join the side next week after finishing off with the Test series against New Zealand.
