The Chennai Super Kings will open their campaign against the Deccan Chargers in the fifth game of the Indian Premier League. The match will be played at the M Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. The Chargers have already played one game and lost it to the Kolkata Knight Riders in Mumbai first up. Bowling options will be a worry!>

The Deccan Chargers missed some pace in the end of the innings. Most of their bowlers were easily carted around in the period between the 11th and the 20th over, and that was a problem they can ill-repeat. Instead, the Chargers will need to regroup and think of tactics of bowling with the older ball – the first ten overs had cost only 57 and they were four wickets down, whereas the next ten went for more than 100 for no loss. Can he repeat his previous IPLs' performance?>

Probably Gilly missed a trick by not bowling Vaas through, which could have enabled the side to get another wicket or two, especially with the kind of swing he was getting. This is the one thing that the captain could look at doing in the Chennai game.

However, it will be worth noting, that, unlike Kolkata, Chennai’s batting is more balanced, and has the batsmen down the order as they have at the top – to go after the bowling. Mathew Hayden will be a threat, and so will MS Dhoni down the order, with the likes of Vijay, Raina and Albie Morkel, all capable of hitting the long ball.

Stan James offers 5/6 for Chennai to win their first game of the tournament, while Deccan is at 6/5 (Bwin) to regain their winning ways. My gut feel is that the Deccan side will need to bat first, pile up the runs and then put some pressure on the opposition, because their bowling is definitely the weaker of the two departments.
