Zimbabwe will take on West Indies in the fourth ODI of the series on Friday at Kingstown in St. Vincent. The West Indian side had comeback well to beat Zimbabwe in the third ODI, thanks mainly to the admonishment that the captain Chris Gayle meted out before the start of the 2nd match and the selectors’ decision to drop a few of their players from the side. Needs to smash them around at the top>

Zimbabwe’s basic issue is with their batting. They have exhibited that they possess a decent set of spinners who can restrict the opposition to a target that can be chased, but the fact of the matter is that if the batsmen do not get going, then, it becomes really difficult to chase down even a smallish total. Will he manage to get the Zimbabweans to a safe enough total?>

In the fourth game, which is also a do-or-die game for the Zimbabweans given that a loss here would end their series winning hopes, the visitors need to come out with a strategy to bat through the 50 overs. Something like what they had done in the first ODI, the side will need to put the brakes early – on both their attempts at runs and the wickets – and then hope that the bowlers continue to deliver in the same manner that they had earlier.

West Indies had got a kick up their backside after the stunning losses to Zimbabwe, but just because they have won the next two games, does not mean that they are safe. Again, most of the batting depends on either Gayle or Shivnaraine Chanderpaul which is not great news for the West Indian side. Fortunately, for them, the opposition is relatively weaker, but they will need to buck up their loose middle-order and score as many as they can.

The real challenge though, would be, if the Zimbabweans bat first and get to at least 250. Then, whether Boylesports will still offer 1/5 for a West Indian win as compared to 4/1 (Ladbrokes) for Zimbabwe, remains to be seen.
