West Indies will play Zimbabwe in the third ODI of the five match series at a new venue at the Kingstown in St. Vincent. The series is evenly poised at one game apiece, but the chance of venue and the change in the West Indian personnel gives one a sense that the momentum has slowly shifted in favour of West Indies. Will he open the bowling again?>

The West Indian management seemed to have taken strong exception to that ugly swipe that Dwayne Smith attempted – and got bowled – and have axed him. The other two who could have been shown the door as well, have got a respite as the management would have thought of giving both, Kieron Pollard and Denesh Ramdin another go in the line-up. Dwayne Bravo will add the much required balance to the middle-order, given that his bowling will add the depth, while the batting down the order will help in overcoming the Zimbabwean spinners; given that he uses his feet rather well against the slow bowlers.

The Zimbabwean side will look to their slow bowlers for obvious reasons. But, to me, it is the batsmen who need to come good for the side. They have yet to fire in the series, and the middle order needs to start supporting the top; especially the likes of Brendan Taylor and Matsikenyeri who need to chip with their efforts of 30s and 40s to prop up the total.

Raymond Price and Prosper Utseya will open the bowling for Zimbabwe again, but it is the bowlers in the later stages of the game who could be the difference between a close game and a one-sided one.

For now, the West Indian side will obviously go into the game as favourites (1/4 at Bet Fred) but if the previous games are anything to go by, then a close encounter could be in the offing again. Zimbabwe is offered 7/2 (Totesport) to take a 2-1 lead.
