The IPL has rejected Ravindra Jadeja’s ban plea and upheld the earlier verdict to ban the player from the entire duration of the tournament. Jadeja had been banned by the IPL for trying to negotiate with the other franchises, a contract, despite possessing one with the Rajasthan Royals. Banned from IPL>

The IPL governing council had taken a strong exception to Jadeja’s tactics and after receiving a complaint from the Rajasthan Royals – the side he plays for – had banned the player. Jadeja had a right to appeal the ban, and he had done just that. However, according to Lalit Modi, the decision to reject the ban was now in the hands of the chief of the BCCI, Shashank Manohar. Manohar, on his part, refused to hear the plea and said that the ban would serve as a deterrent for any such future issues.

The Rajasthan Royals will miss the spinner, as he has been one of their better players, apart from being an Indian international and hence will possess the experience to win the games for his side. Johan Botha may get a better chance of playing in the eleven now.
