Shoiab Akhtar , the controversial pacer of Pakistan has different input with right to his international cricket career. His chances of returning to the national team might be desolate but he thinks his career is not over despite not being picked in the preliminary squad for the Twenty20 World Cup

Shoaib adds that he was literally surprised at not being picked for the tournament and pointed that even Shaun Tait and Brett lee have had injury issues for the past few months, but they have been selected in the preliminary squad. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had different opinion over this. They pointed out that Shoaib has hardly played any cricket since May 2009 in an ODI against Australia.
According to them, the question was how can they select him when they can’t pick him on the criteria of a few domestic matches. Also, whether he is fit or not was also unknown to them as per the PCB Chairman, Ejaz Butt.
On the other hand, during the ongoing National Twenty20 Championship, Shoaib didn’t care about what people or the board had to say about his fitness. All he cares was that he is quite capable and fit and won’t give hope on such issues. He would fight back into his way to the team as he has few more years of international cricket left.
Akhtar had suffered a knee injury back in June 2009 for which he even underwent a knee operation in England. This enigmatic bowler though lost his central contract from the board due to his fitness and disciplinary issues.
Recovering from the operation, 34 year old Akhtar also added that it might take time to get back into full fit form but he is slowly trying his best to get back into his top form. With set targets, he would definitely be ready for the matches for a comeback. Shoaib Akhtar has a track record of 178 wickets in 46 Tests and 223 wickets in almost 144 one day internationals.
