The England Team has called up 18 year old batsman, Heather Knight for the tour to India to replace Sarah Taylor>, the wicketkeeper opener. Taylor missed the second ODI in Bangalore due to a hip injury and might return to England to continue rehabilitation.

Heather Knight is an excellent batsman who had played for the England Women’s Academy along with other national squad members like Danielle Wyatt, Anya Shrubsole and Danielle Hazell. The head of the women’s board of the England team Clare Connor said that Taylor got injured which was a blow to the team. The team is already missing their leading batsman Claire Taylor and Holly Colvin, the left arm spinner to injuries.

Taylor was the leading run scorer of the England team and scored excellently whilst playing against the Australian team last summer. Moreover, she was also a formidable presence behind the stumps. However, her absence can mean that the selectors can get to test other promising players. For instance, Tammy Beaumont of Kent is an excellent wicket keeper with Heather Knight joining the tour as an additional batsman. Heather too is an excellent batsman scoring runs at county level and seizing the chance to impress the country, her teammates and even the selectors.
