The match played between India and South Africa in Jaipur, India was worth watching. >, the all rounder, left hand batsman and slow left arm orthodox proved all wrong by bowling accurately. He became the hero of the one run win against South Africa giving a thrilling victory to the Indian team.
At first Mahendra Singh Dhoni clearly didn’t expect anything from his bowlers and was not at all happy with their performance. However, Suresh Raina and Ravindra Jadeja proved him wrong during the one day match held in 21st February, 2010. As per Dhoni, the team needed many runs to pass by. The initial overs of the South African innings, the bowlers could have performed better.
As per Ravindra Jadeja, it was accuracy that paid him rich dividends to a thrilling victory. After contributing 22 runs with the bat, he played a stellar role with the ball thus claiming two wickets of the South African team and surrendering 29 runs in his accurate 10 over. Jadeja was of the view that he could simply concentrate and stick to the basics by bowling stump to stump without any loose balls. Since he was bowling in the Powerplays, the idea was a simple stump-to-stump and not to bowl too much outside the off stump as per the all rounder who was presented with the Man of the Match for his brilliant performance.
Moreover, Jadeja further added that as there was not much turn in the track, it would be wise to bowl to the batsman’s pads. Jadeja thought that even if he couldn’t get the wickets, he would not concede runs since containing was also important at that point. The entire team was worried when Dale Steyn and Wayne Parnell too South Africa team very close to win with just 10 runs off the last over which was sent down by Praveen Kumar. Jadeja is of the view that because of Praveen’s last over sent down and Sachin’s saving one run when he dived to stop the boundary saved the match. Else the result would have been either a tie or total loss of runs for the Indian team.
Jadeja, who was banned from the IPL for sounding out franchisees outside his Rajasthan Royals team, had remained rather tight lipped when he was asked if he expected any mercy from the IPL authorities. Instead, he focused on cricket, the Duleep Trophy and on the ODI series.
Ravindra Jadeja has even appeared in around 20 of the Twenty20 matches and scored 213 runs with 36 not out as his highest score. His strike rate was 129.09 with batting average of 17.75. He has to his credit 8 catches, 8 sixes and almost 18 boundaries. He even took the opportunity to bowl 115 deliveries conceding 152 runs and taking 2 wickets.
