New Zealand will take on Bangladesh in the first ODI of the three game series.

New Zealand will take on Bangladesh in the first ODI of the three game series. The T20I was easily won by the Kiwis and now, they will look to make a clean sweep of the fifty overs cricket as well, by starting off well at Napier. Makes it difficult for opposition>

Bangladesh has been struggling to find their feet with their batting. Whilst, more often than not, their batting gets many a starts and fails to go on, the T20I game saw none of the batsmen even surpass 20. That is the one big issue that the visitors will need to resolve before they can even think of winning a game under conditions that are very alien to them. Will look to get back in form>

The bowling has looked good in the last couple of months, and while the conditions may not assist the slower bowlers, the seamers could get some help at Napier.

For the Kiwis, it is a different kind of a pressure. They know that they will need to win all the games they play in, and for that, they will need to be at the top of their game. For now, it does look like the openers are providing them with a sound start, as Brendon McCullum seems to have regained his touch back. While Jesse Ryder is no longer a part of the squad thanks to his groin injury, Martin Guptill will have riding on his shoulder.

The bowling will rest in the hands of Daniel Vettori, but the other bowlers will need to chip in. They cannot afford to rest on their captain’s laurels, given that the Bangladeshis will look to bat out his overs and attack at the other end.

With the odds heavily stacked up against them, Bangladesh will be hard-pressed for a win and are at 6 (Totesport) to make it 1-0. New Zealand is the favourite to win the match and will be at 1.165 (Sky Bet) to win the game.
