Sachin Tendulkar has decided that he will not play in the tri-series against Sri Lanka in Bangladesh. The hosts are the third side in the tournament. Rohit Sharma has been named as the replacement for Tendulkar.>
The other player who has been included despite having struggled with a finger injury for the whole of the series against Sri Lanka, is Yuvraj Singh. It remains to be seen whether he becomes fit enough to feature in the starting eleven of first game of the series on the 5th of January.>
From the bowlers, the woefully out of form Ishant Sharma and Praveen Kumar have both been rested. In their place, S. Sreesanth and Ashok Dinda make their presence in the squad. Sudeep Tyagi, who made his debut in the ODI series against Sri Lanka back home continues to be in the side.
The selectors have also replaced Pragyan Ojha, the left arm spinner, with leg-spinner Amit Mishra. Dinesh Karthik continues to don the gloves as the second wicket-keeper in the team.
MS Dhoni continues to lead the side, whereas Virender Sehwag will be the vice-captain of the side. Sehwag had earlier refused the role given that he thought that a younger man should be given the role to groom him into the job.
