South African born, English player Jonathon Trott has hit back at his critics by saying that he does not bother about what the opposition has to say about his ‘time-wasting tactics’ because he does what he has to do. >
Graeme Smith had been extremely critical about the manner in which Trott took a lot of time to prepare to face every delivery. In fact, the bowlers had to stop in the middle of their bowling action on many occasions, which caused a lot of issues because it stopped a certain victory march for the South Africans.>
Trott has already been officially warned by the on-field umpires for time-wasting in an ODI. The rules say that if a player is warned twice and still continues to waste time on the field of play, his side can be penalised five runs.
However, Trott has said that he never played cricket to get under people’s skin, and has hiw own stuff to get effective in the field of play. He also acknowledged that while it could mess up with the opposition’s over-rate, there isn’t much that he was going to do about it.
Trott was one of those instrumental in helping England achieve a draw in the first Test match at the Centurion. The second game will be played at the Kingsmead in Durban.
