Sachin Tendulkar’s magical display with the bat at Monday’s Compaq Cup Final against Sri Lanka was one of the best innings of his life, according to the player.
Tendulkar scored a whooping 138 in the final which was also his 44th one day international century. India achieved a massive target of 319 and successfully defeated the home team by 46 runs.
Tendulkar was awarded with the Man of the Match as well as the Man of the Series award for his amazing performance throughout. He commented, “This is one of my best innings. I will rate this up considering the conditions and the ground, the humidity.”
Tendulkar and Dravid opened for India after Dhoni had won the toss and elected to bat first. The opening pair managed to score 95 runs between them. While Sanath Jayasuriya also performed exceptionally for his team. Given their age, Tendulkar, Jayasuriya and Dravid were simply brilliant. Sachin said, “I think, more than age what really matters is how much you are able to give to the game.”
Talking about the Champions Trophy Sachin commented, “In Champions Trophy, it will be different conditions but since we have played in tougher conditions here, it should not be a problem for us.”
