Virender Sehwag has said that he will continue playing for Delhi after the President of the state assured him that steps will be taken to ensure that there was transparency in the selection process. Earlier, Sehwag, along with his other Delhi team-mates like Gautam Gambhir, Ishant Sharma, Ashish Nehra and Akash Chopra had threatened to quit the side because of issues with selections.

Jaitley, also a politician from one of the major opposition party, said that everyone was happy with the outcome of the meeting and will play cricket happily together. The meeting was held in the presence of former Indian captain, MAK Pataudi.
After the meeting, Jaitley addressed a press conference in which he said that he appreciated the concerns of Sehwag and that there will be processes put in place for getting the best out of the state cricket.
Jaitley said, “The principle concern was that steps are required to be taken to ensure that the selection process of the teams is absolutely fair, and, secondly, no interference of any kind in that process is acceptable or to be tolerated.”
Sehwag had alleged that there were far too much corruption in the selection to the Delhi Ranji team as well as to the under-19 side, which meant that many undeserving candidates got into the side. The Delhi officials had retorted back by saying that Sehwag was sore that his own cousin hadn’t been selected in the Delhi side.
