The Man of the Match

The Man of the Match was Adam Gilchrist of the Deccan Chargers. He played a blitzkrieg sort of innings. In the 35 balls he faced, he clobbered 5 sixes and 10 boundaries while accruing 85 runs. His strike rate was 242.85.

Delhi innings

Earlier, Deccan Chargers won the toss and decided to field first. Gilchrist, the captain of the Chargers, remarked that his team would try to restrict Delhi to an achievable target. His decision was proved right in the 1st over, when Ryan Harris dismissed Gautam Gambhir and David Warner for ducks in the first over. Thereafter, Virender Sehwag and Tillakratne Dilshan steadied the innings. Dilshan was the top scorer for the team with 65 runs in 51 deliveries inclusive of 7 boundaries and 1 six. Sehwag faced 31 balls and amassed 39 runs with the aid of 5 boundaries. The other batsman to enter double figures was AB de Villiers who made 26 in 21 balls. In 20 overs, Delhi Daredevils made 153 for 8 wickets.

Deccan innings

In the 2nd over, Herschelle Gibbs was bowled by Ashish Nehra for a duck. However, Gilchrist tore the bowling apart. He was ably assisted by Andrew Symonds who made 24 runs in 15 balls and Tirumalsetti Suman who remained unbeaten on 24 in 25 deliveries. After 17.4 overs, Deccan scored 154 runs for the loss of 4 wickets.
