Tait wants to return to IPL

Shaun Tait has declared that he will try to make a comeback to competitive cricket in the last round matches of the Indian Premier League.

Shaun Tait has declared that he will try to make a comeback to competitive cricket in the last round matches of the Indian Premier League. Earlier Cricket Australia had ruled him out of the tournament because of his hamstring problem that had failed to recover and the board wanted him to take rest before the ICC World T20. Tait’s manager had expressed surprise over this decision given that this will be the last tournament before the prestigious T20 World Cup and making a comeback may become difficult for the South Australian. Will he make it?> After been out of cricket for more than two months – with issues with his hamstring – Tait finally managed to return to the nets and thinks that he can try and make it the final rounds.

Tait had been selected by the Rajasthan Royals through the second auction of the IPL and the team had paid $375,000 to purchase him.

Tait said, “If I can get myself fit, and there is a window for the final two or three games, that would be fantastic. Because of the injury, Cricket Australia weren’t keen to release me to play, which ruled me out of training and playing with Rajasthan.”

Tait has a penchant for getting injured on a rather consistent basis and this has been attributed to his action. However, Tait himself does not agree and has said that he wants to continue bowling with the same action.

He said, “At the end of the day, my action has got me this far. I am prepared to cop these injuries to keep bowling fast. Last year I probably targetted the shorter forms more. I think one-dayers and Twenty20s suit my style of game more. In the next three or four months, I’ll see how I go. If I’m still feeling good playing four-day cricket then I’d be stupid to walk away, but if not then I’ll have to have a think about it.”
