The Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy is the most valuable individual cricket award given by the International Cricket Council to the ICC Player of the Year. >
History
The trophy is named after former West Indies cricketer and cricketing legend Garfield Sobers. The trophy resembles a red cricket ball and was designed and handcrafted by Swarovski. Over 4200 Swarovski crystals are studded on the ball which rests on a brass hand. The trophy was made in 2004 and has been given to the winner of the ICC Player of the Year at the ICC Awards function held every year.
Methodology
The players are judged on their performances from the 1st of August to the 31st of July every year. The teams are asked to send two names as nominations for the awards.
