Sri Lanka Women defeated Bangladesh Women by 76 runs in an ODI at Shaheed Chandu Stadium in Bogra on 9th February 2009. The toss was won by Sri Lanka Women and they opted to bat first.

Sri Lanka innings

Sri Lanka Women was given a good opening stand of 62 runs by Dedunu Silva and Chamari Kumarihami. This partnership was broken when Silva was trapped leg before wicket for 30. After the addition of only 4 runs, Hiruka Fernando was caught for 1. Then, Kumarihami and Inoka Galagedara added 25 runs. When the score reached 106, Kumarihami returned to the pavilion. She scored 31 runs in 79 deliveries inclusive of 3 fours. From the score of 4 for 106, Sri Lanka Women slip to 8 for 116. They had lost 8 wickets within a span of 54 runs. At this stage, Eshani Kaushalya smashed 1 sixer and 7 boundaries to pile up 60 unbeaten runs in only 43 deliveries. She was on the pitch for 60 minutes. Kaushalya was ably assisted by Dilani Manodara who made 20 and Sripali Weerakkody who remained unbeaten on 18. In 50 overs, Sri Lanka Women lost 9 wickets and stockpiled 211 runs.

Bangladesh innings

When the score was 26, Shathira Jakir was bowled by Chandi Wickramasinghe for 7 off 49 balls. Further, Ayesha Akhter and Panna Ghosh resisted the bowling attack, but scored at a snail’s pace. When Panna Ghosh was out in the 31st over, the scoreboard read 2 for 68. From this position, Bangladesh Women were all out for 135 in 47.5 overs. The most successful Sri Lankan bowler was Kumarihami. She bowled 10 overs, out of which 2 were maiden, conceded 26 runs and made 3 dismissals.
