The defending champions and the most successful team in the history of the IPL, the Mumbai Indians, are back in the final of the worlds richest franchise tournament again.

It is not all over for the Capitals though. Under the format of the competition, they get a second bite of the cherry and will play the winner of Fridays match between the Sunrisers Hyderabad and the Royal Challengers Bangalore in Abu Dhabi.

That match will take place also in Abu Dhabi on Sunday.

They may have to play a lot better though in that match if they want to earn the chance to play the Indians in the final itself on November 10th.

They actually one the toss and invited Mumbai to bowl first, almost immediate success when they had the opposing captain Rohit Sharma lbw for a duck. Quinton de Kock and Suryakumar Yadav put on 62 for the second wicket and the score board kept ticking over, with the sixth wicket pair of Ishan Kishan and Hardik Pandya setting them a stiff challenge by adding 60 off the last four overs, helping Mumbai close their innings on 200/5.

Delhi needed a good start in their reply instead, they began horribly, losing their first three wickets without getting s single run on the board. Trent Boult set the tone by taking the wickets of both Privthi Shaw and Ajinkya Rahane in the very first over, and then his fast bowler partner Jasprit Bumrah then got in on the act by bowling Shikhar Dhawan.

Marcus Stoinis and Axar Patel briefly revived hopes with a stand of 71 for the sixth wicket, but Delhi were always behind the run rate, and, in the end, finished well short of their target.

Bumrah took 4/14 and was named Man of the Match, but it had been a team effort, and, whoever they meet in the final in Dubai, they will undoubtedly start favourite to retain their title, which would make it five in all.
