Gayle publicly slammed Sarwan in a remarkable 15-minute video released earlier this week on his Youtube channel following his exit from Caribbean Premier League franchise Jamaica Tallawahs last week.
The pair had been teammates at the Tallawahs, but 40-year-old big-hitting batsman Gayle blamed Sarwan for his departure, claiming he’d been in the owner’s ear before getting personal.
“Right now Sarwan, you are worse than the coronavirus right now,” said Gayle, who has since signed with St Lucia Zouks.
“You are a snake, you are so vindictive still immature, still stabbing people in the back.
“What transpired with the Tallawahs, you had a big part to play … You’re so vindictive. You’re still immature, still stabbing people in the back.”
However, 39-year-old Guyanese batsman Sarwan, who played alongside Gayle for more than a decade internationally, hit back at the “Universe Boss”.
Sarwan, who is Jamaica’s assistant coach, said: “I absolutely reject Gayle’s allegation that I encouraged foreign players to disrespect him, I really do not understand how he came to such a conclusion and this simply is not true.”
The Tallawahs also put out a statement clarifying that Sarwan was not involved in the decision-making process, instead made by the ownership and management team.
The 87-Test West Indies batsman added: “In that video, he has levelled false allegations and tarnished the good name and reputation of a series of persons. I was the focus of most of the onslaughts.
“I reply, not because I feel that Gayle’s rantings are worthy of it, but because I feel that the publics record must be set straight and also, to protect the character and careers of so many people, whose image he sought to besmirch.”
