Sri Lanka won the 3rd ODI against the West Indies to complete a series whitewash.

For the third match in the series, which Sri Lanka had already won, the home side were unchanged in Kandy, whilst the West Indies preferred Hayden Walsh to Keemo Paul.

It was the home side who won the toss and chose to bat first, and they were given a solid start by Avishka Fernando and Dimuth Karunaratne who put on 60, until Fernando was caught behind off Alzarri Joseph for 29. Karunaratne and Kusal Perera then added 28, until Karunaratne was caught and bowled by Roston Chase for 24.

Then Kusal Perera and Kusal Mendis shared a stand of 89 for the third wicket until Kusal Perera, who had made 44, was caught behind off the bowling of Kieron Pollard. In the following over, his partner, Mendis also departed, caught by Pollard off Joseph. He had scored 55, including one six.

Angelo Mathews made 12 before he was bowled by Sheldon Cottrell, but Dhananjaya de Silva and Thisara Perera then put on 64 for the sixth wicket until Dhananjaya fell for 51, caught by Pollard off Joseph.

In his next over Joseph had Thisara Perera caught for 38, but Wanindu Hasaranga, scored 16 off just 9 balls, including a six, before he was bowled by Jason Holder off the fourth ball of the last over. Then Lakshan Sandakan was run out next ball, and Holder then had Isuru Udana caught by Pollard.

Sri Lanka had been bowled out for 307 off the last ball of their innings.

Joseph was the most successful West Indies bowler with 4 for 65.

The West Indies made a fine start to their reply with Shai Hope and Sunil Ambris sharing an opening stand of 111, until Ambris, who had made 60, was bowled by Hasaranga. He had struck one six. Then Hope put on 60 with Nicholas Pooran until, having reached 72, he was caught by Kusal Mendis off the bowling of Udana.

It was then the turn of Pooran to share a stand of 47 with Pollard, until Pooran was caught by a substitute fielder off Matthews having made exactly 50, including a six. Two overs later, it was the turn of Pollard to depart, caught by Udana of Matthews. He had made 49, also having hit a six.

With the match in the balance, Jason Holder and Fabian Allen put on 22, but then Holder was caught by Kusal Mendis, with Matthews again the bowler, and then Walsh was run out for 2. Chase was run out by Hasaranga, and Allen who had made 37, was caught by Mendis off the bowling of Mathews. Joseph and Cottrell were not out at the end, but the West Indies had fallen just short of their target on 301 9.

Matthews was the best of the Sri Lanka bowlers with 4 for 59.
