West Indies won their third T20I against Ireland in Basseterre, St.

The West Indies won the toss and chose to field first, but Ireland got off to a reasonable start with Paul Stirling and Kevin OBrien putting on 50 for the first wicket, before OBrien was the first man to go, caught by Shimron Hetmyer off Kieron Pollard for 36 Stirling went in the next over, lbw to Dwayne Bravo for 12, and, although Andrew Balbirnie and Gary Delany added 19, two wickets fell in the same Pollard over, both Delany and Harry Tector caught behind.

Three overs later, two more Irish wickets fell in successive balls, Gary Wilson caught by Lendl Simmons off Romario Shepherd, and Balbirnie run out by Sherfane Rutherford for 28.

Mark Adair was another victim of a run out, this time by Sheldon Cottrell, and, two balls later, Simi Singh was caught by Cottrell off Rutherford. Barry McCarthy and Craig Young added 17 for the ninth wicket, but Young was caught by Simmons off Bravo. The last man to fall was Joshua Little, caught behind off Bravo, leaving McCarthy undefeated on 10. Ireland had been bowled out for 138, with five balls of their innings left to be bowled.

Pollard took 3 for 17, and Bravo 3 for 19.

In reply the West Indies opening pair of Simmons and Lewis looked to win the match single-handedly in double quick time, producing some powerful hitting against the Irish bowling. The pair put on 133 for the opening wicket off 10 overs and 4 balls, with Simmons leading the way, scoring 91 not out of just 40 balls, his innings featuring 10 sixes and 5 fours. Lewis was slightly more sedate, and he was the one wicket to fall, caught behind off Singh for 46, scored off 25 balls, having struck 3 sixes and 4 fours of his own.

His dismissal only delayed the inevitable by two balls, Nicholas Pooran came to the crease, took a single, allowing Simmons to seal the victory with another six.
