Australian quick James Pattinson won’t be available for the first Test against Pakistan at the Gabba due to suspension.

Pattinson was found guilty of a Code of Conduct breach in Victoria’s Sheffield Shield last-gasp loss to Queensland last week, meaning he’s had three breaches in his past six Shield games.

Cricket Australia found the fast bowler guilty of a Level Two breach of Article 2.13, which relates to personal abuse of a player.

Pattinson had been named in Australia’s 14-man squad for the first two Tests against Pakistan starting on Thursday in Brisbane.

He seemed to be battling Mitchell Starc for a spot in the final XI.

Pattinson accepted the ban and admitted his fault for the incident, with full details not revealed.

“I made a mistake in the heat of the moment,” Pattinson said.

“Straight away I realised I was in the wrong, and I apologised immediately, both to the opponent and to the umpires.

“I have done the wrong thing and accept the penalty.

“I’m gutted to miss a Test match, but the standards are there for a reason and the fault is mine.”
