It was the Vikings who won the toss and decide to bat first in their match. Although they lost Soumya Sarkar for just a single, they then enjoyed a fine second-wicket partnership of 107 between captain Luke Ronchi and wicketkeeper Anamul Haque. Ronchi fell to opposing captain Shakib Al-Hasan for 59, which included four sixes, but Haque pressed on until he was out for 73, with 6 sixes to his name. Late order impetus was provided by Sikandar Raza with 26 off just 11 balls, as the Chittagong reached 187/5 at the end of their allotted overs.
Unfortunately, though for the Vikings, the Dynamites’ opener Evin Lewis was in irrepressible form, smashing 75 off just 31 balls, including 9 sixes. He shared a stand of 118 for the second wicket with Joe Denly, with Denly very much the junior partner scoring 44. When his wicket fell, Al-Hasan and South African Cameron Delport came together to see the Vikings through to victory with 7 balls to spare, Delport unbeaten on a 43 which included 3 sixes, whilst Al-Hasan was 22 not out.
The second match saw the Kings win the toss and decide to bowl. Although they captured the early wicket of Rilee Rossouw run out for a single, Nazmul Hossain Shanto and Afif Hossain shared a 45-run partnership for the second wicket. Shanto went for 49, including two sixes, and Titans’ captain Mahmadullah was out for a single., but Hossain combined with Nicholas Pooran, and then Carlos Braithwaite (34), as the runs flowed. Pooran top-scored with 57, including 3 sixes, but Hossain was not far behind, scoring 54 not out, including 5 sixes of his own, as the Titans racked up an impressive 213/5 off their 20 overs.
The Kings were never really in the contest after they lost their openers, Mominul Haque and Luke Wright in the third over. Both fell to Shafiul Islam, who was on his way to delivering a man of the match bowling spell of five for 26. For Rajshahi, Rony Tadulkar top-scored with 36, and Mehidy Hasan 29, but they were always behind the asking rate, as well as losing wickets at a regular rate. Eventually they were all out for 145 in the 19th over, giving the Titans a comprehensive 68 run victory,
The results of both matches propelled the Titans and the Dynamites to the top of the League, both level on 11 points, as the race for the knock-out stages starts to idensify. The Kings and the Vikings, meanwhile, now occupy the bottom two places in the table.
