Manchester United welcome Newcastle United in game week three of season 2015-16 in the English Premier League in what should be a great game at Old Trafford, Manchester. The game kicks off at 13:45 CEST on Saturday, August 22, 2015.
Manchester United have started off on a winning note winning both their opening fixtures with an exact scoreline of 1-0. They are currently fourth in the league table with six points from the two games. Newcastle on the other hand have had one point from their two matches and they occupy the 15th place on the table.
United’s first game was a home win against Tottenham and the second game was away to Aston Villa.
While both the performances have not been convincing, the defense has looked good with Smalling, Blind, Darmian and Shaw combining together very well. But winning and collecting points even when the team is not playing so well on the pitch might just be a blessing in disguise for Van Gaal’s men as they are sure to improve in form with the season.
Newcastle have been patchy and yet good at times with their new manager and the host of new players at their disposal. They lost 2-0 against a rampant Swansea at home which was expected, but the 2-2 draw against Southampton was a good result as they played some good counter attacking football in the game.
Memphis Depay scored two goals in the Champions League tie against Club Brugge and he will be hoping to open his premier league account.
Bastian Schweinsteiger will also be looking for his first start in the league, but Van Gaal might just stick to Carrick and Schneiderlin in the middle. Newcastle will have their hopes pinned on the likes of Cissé, Wijnaldum, Sissoko and Gabriel Obertan to fire them into contention in this game.
United start favourites in this home tie and they have already gotten off the blocks well. Newcastle will have to put up a stunning display if they are to even take away a point from this fixture.
