Kina Malpartida
Kina Malpartida Dyson is a female junior lightweight boxer from Peru. Malpartida was born on March 25, 1980 in Lima, Peru, and she is best known as the World Boxing Association Super Featherweight champion for 2009.
Malpartida’s parents are no strangers to fame, as she is the daughter of Susy Dyson, an international model who appeared in various covers of magazines such as Vogue, Marie Claire, and Vanity Fair, and Oscar Malpartida, a professional surfing champion and passionate skydiver.
Right from the start, Malpartida was already inclined to sports, even dabbling in Karate Do at the age of 6. She also played various other sports including soccer, tennis, basketball, and track and field. She even won the Women’s Open World Surfing Championships.
In the boxing world, Malpartida started her training in the sport on May 2003 under the tutelage of Coach Tony Simms. By August 2003, she faced off against Katrina Harding for her debut fight and won via unanimous decision. She then went against more professional boxers, until she eventually fought Maureen Shea at Madison Square Garden, New York for the WBA Super Featherweight title at 130, which she won.
