Regina Halmich
Born on November 22, 1976, Regina Halmich is a German boxer who is one of the pioneers who helped popularize female boxing in Europe. She is also a popular TV personality in Germany.
The German boxer enjoyed a thriving amateur career in 1992, 1993 and 1994. It was also in 1994 when she won the European title. During her professional career Halmich has fought in the Jr. Flyweight, Flyweight, Jr. Bantamweight, Bantamweight and Featherweight Divisions, facing Delia Gonzalez and Yvonne Caples in defense of her flyweight title. Halmich also fought Elena Reid in a fight that ended in a draw.
She won the vacant IWBF Super Flyweight title when she defeated Daisy Lang and defeated Marylin Hernandez by a ten round unanimous decision during her defense of her world flyweight title in January 2005. Halmich followed this up with another win against Hollie Dunaway in April. She fought Maria Jesus Rosa for her 50th fight and won. She now holds the world flyweight title, with the belt in her possession for ten years. By December she successfully defended the title against Elena Reid.
The German boxer won her 53rd fight against Ria Ramnarine of Trinidad and Tobago, defeating the opponent with a TKO in the sixth round.
Halmich announced her retirement on November 30, 2007 during her farewell fight against Hagar Finer, an Israeli boxer. She won the fight by majority decision. Aside from boxing Halmich also ventured into business and into fashion, becoming the first female boxer to come up with her own line of cosmetics and posing for several German magazines and websites. She has also posed for the German edition of Playboy.
