Mark Millegan
Ligth Welterweight champion Mark Jason Millegan is a Filipino boxer who was born on April 6, 1984 in Bacolod City and currently resides in Cebu City, Philippines. Millegen grew up in a family of boxers. His father used to join ‘Blow by Blow’ competitions in Manila and later served as boxing coach to Millegen and his siblings. Younger brothers Mark Gil and Johnrey are also boxers. He finished elementary and high school in his home town before taking up nursing for one year, eventually quitting to focus on his boxing career. He was a member of the Philippine Team while studying nursing at the Baguio University. Millegan’s professional career started when he was discovered by Philippine team coach Tony Aldeguer at the National Open Boxing Competition in Cebu.
Millegen faced off with Ernesto Zepeda in 2009, in Las Vegas, ending the bout with a TKO in the fourth round, raising his number of total wins to 16, 12 of them by knock out. This was one of the supporting matches for the WBA interim super flyweight title bout between Nonito “The Filipino Flash” Donaire and Mexican Rafael "El Torito" Concepción. However, he also lost that year to unheralded boxer Michel Rosales after the latter defeated him in a split decision at the House of Blues at the Mandalay Bay resort in Las Vegas.
