Diana Dutra
Diana Mary Dutra, or known simply as “Diana Dutra,” used to be a professional female boxer from Vancouver, Canada. She was born on September 23, 1964, and she is known for joining the world of professional boxing at the age of 31, which is considered to be an age past a boxer’s prime.
Dutra is also a former world Jr. Welterweight champion, which she won in an unlikely circumstance. This was her very first fight in the IWBF world, and it was held on October 20, 1995 in Denmark. Dutra defeated Helga Risoy, the defending world champion, in a match that lasted 10 rounds.
Dutra never did get to defend her title but she kept fighting with the title of a Jr. Welterweight until she decided to retire. Her second fight was Dutra’s only professional fight held in Canada. During the said fight, she went against Karen Wilson and won in a match that lasted four rounds, winning via decision.
Sarah Schmedling is known as the first to defeat Dutra. Around that time, Dutra averaged one fight per year, and at her age, the type of schedule really did not help her as she was already 33 years old. In 1998, she tried to make up for the inactivity she suffered for three years by having 5 fights in a single year.
Over the course of her career, Dutra had 5 wins and 5 losses, plus 1 draw. None of her wins were via knockout, and it was in 2000 that Dutra finally decided to retire – never appearing in the boxing scene since her last fight.
