Born on June 1, 1983, Jackie Chavez is a professional boxer who began her career as an amateur kickboxer while training under Tony Rosales, owner of the Tony Rosales Karate and Kickboxing Academy in New Mexico. She won a national kickboxing bout at the age of 16, beating Audrey Vela of Austin, Texas, and from there Chavez decided to pursue boxing as a pro.

Chavez debuted as a pro boxer on October 5, 2001 in New Mexico at the Sky City Casino, beating pro boxer Brandy Leon of Prescott, Arizona. Leon fell to a 1-5 loss after suffering through a combination of Chavez’s combination punches. Chavez was only 18 at the time of her first win.

Her next match was later that year, still at the Sky City Casino where she defeated Nicole Gallegos of Albuquerque.

In an effort to step up her boxing, Jackie Chavez decided to train with Ray Sanchez II. Sanchez worked on helping Chavez develop her stance and develop her own set of boxing combinations.

She had her first match in Albuquerque against Raquelle Tebo, outpointing her opponent in four rounds. Chavez spent 2003 without a fight due to a forced lay-off but she was back on the ring again by the time 2004 rolled in, squaring off against LeAnne Villareal in Roswell, New Mexico. The fight was held at Roswell High school, and Chavez defeated the opponent in four rounds by unanimous decision.

She fought for her first world championship title, FBA's vacant world Super Bantamweight, defeating Jayla Ortiz in ten rounds in Colorado.
